About

Bruce Dorricott

My photography started as a hobby that I took up in my childhood: fostered, from the age of eight, by my father, who is an accomplished and widely respected amateur photographer. My first camera was an Ensign box and I moved on through various 35mm cameras makes including Zenith, Practika and Pentax. For many years, I processed my own film and printed my photos in a traditional 'wet' darkroom.

Perhaps the biggest change in my photographic practices came with the creative control offered by computer image editing programmes and the improvements to photo quality printers. Initially I stuck with 35mm film and had the negatives scanned for editing on the computer. But, again, the speedy improvements to the quality offered by digital cameras led me to convert to this media.

I now use Nikon D300s and D80 digital SLRs and process my images in both Photoshop CS5 and Paintshop Pro XII.

My prints and digital images have had regular success in being chosen for exhibition in the annual 'Welsh Salon of Photography' and 'Welsh International Projected Images Salon'.

I hope you enjoy my images. Thanks for looking in.
